Slinger and Signaller course
Target Group
Those who have responsibility for day to day lifting operations and safe slinging in their operating environment.
Aim
The course aim is to provide identified candidates with the underpinning knowledge and competence in lifting and slinging to enable them to carry out operations without risk to health an following the LEAA aproved code of practice.
Objectives
On completion successful candidates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the relevant legislation and their responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of force influences and mode factors
- Select and use the appropriate equipment for a lifting operation
- Undertake pre-use inspection of the equipment
- Use apropriate hand signals
- Carry out a lifting operation safely

- The law and legal considerations
- Forces in slinging arrangements and uniform load method of rating
- Selection of lifting equipment
- Inspection and discard criteria of the equipment
- Safe lifting practical assesment
- Theoretical Assesment
Achievement measurement
This 1 day course is carried out following the aproved code of practice as published by the LEEA. This includes practical lifting assesments and theoretical test.
