G1 Straddle carrier Truck course

Target Group

For all workers who during their daily activities have to handle or move containers. This course is aimed at both the beginner as the more experienced driver.

Aim

To teach the practical basic skills to professionally operate a straddle carrier. Besides safety a lot of attention is paid to the efficient and damage free working with the vehicle.

Training objectives

• Give delegates a understanding of the functions of the carrier
• Understand the need for Pre use check and safe start up procedures
• Estimate and assess Stability and load centre location
• Become aware of surrounding hazards
• Promote efficient and safe driving practice
• Understand legal responsibilities

Course contents

• pre-use check up of the vehicle
• stacking under various circumstances
• how to deal with hindrances and specific difficulties
• how to recognise risks.
• loading/unloading of trucks and railwagons
• twin and extendable twin

Duration

Minimum 1 day refresher or 5 day novice dependent on environment

Max 3:1
